Fasting TD MLA shifted to hospital

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam MLA from Kovvur in West Godavari district, T. V. Rama Rao, who was on an indefinite fast demanding withdrawal of “fake” cases of rape and murder against him was shifted to Gandhi Hospital on Tuesday night.

A party spokesman said being a diabetic, Mr. Rao’s health was a cause of concern but he was determined to continue the fast till he gets justice. His wife and girl students of the nursing college where the purported incident took place sat besides him during the last two days.

When ever an important leader called on him, Mr. Rao who appeared weak broke down while explaining how the government was harassing him just because he happened to be a Dalit and won on Telugu Desam ticket defeating Congress candidate. There was neither a complaint nor a victim, but the government wanted to pursue the case. Among those who visited his fasting camp at Indira Park included TDP senior leaders, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, B. Gopalakrishna Reddy, M. Narsimhulu and M. Mahender Reddy. CPI, CPI (M), TRS and PR leaders too called on him.
