Arrangements for car fest at Tiruvarur temple

TIRUVARUR: All arrangements are being made for the car festival of Sri Thyagarajaswamy temple at Tiruvarur on July 9, according to M. Chandrasekaran, Collector.

He saw the car being prepared for the festival on Monday.

The Collector said that decorations will be completed before July 5.

The 300-tonne car, one of the biggest in the State and popularly called “Azhither”, will go round the four streets, which have been renovated for the smooth procession of the car, the Collector said. Ganjendran, Executive Officer of the temple, accompanied Mr. Chandrasekaran during his visit.

Security has been beefed up and additional transport facilities will be arranged for the benefit of devotees, he said.
