Mayanur murder case solved, one held

Staff Reporter

KARUR: Mayanur police in the district have claimed to have solved the mystery behind the murder of a young man near here a week back and have arrested one youth.

Superintendent of Police R. Dhinakaran told the media here on Tuesday that the Mayanur police have arrested S. Tirupathy (21) of Sevaganur near Krishnarayapuram after investigations revealed that he had taken the victim A. Saravanan of the same village to a lonely place on the Sekkanam-Munayanur road on June 22 and hacked him to death with a sickle.

The accused then left the body of Saravanan there itself and feigned ignorance of anything when investigations reached his doorstep. After sustained interrogation, Tirupathy accepted that he had killed Saravanan as he suspected that his wife had illicit intimacy with the dead Saravanan.

Mayanur police solved the mystery behind the murder in a week and were able to bring the accused to justice for which the Superintendent of Police lauded the police personnel.
