Awards for 47 GPs

Sirsi: Uttara Kannada district in-charge Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri conferred Nirmal Gram awards to 47 gram panchayats of the district for successfully implementing Nirmal Gram Scheme in 2007-2008. He distributed Rs. 91 lakh special grants to these gram panchayats at a programme held at Yellapur Taluk Panchayat Hall on Monday, according to report reaching here on Tuesday.

He announced that Uttara Kannada district stood first in the State in implementing the scheme effectively.

Yellapur taluk had secured the first place in the district by implementing the scheme in 14 gram panchayats, he said.
