Talks with medical colleges held

Staff Reporter

PUDUCHERRY: Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam held discussions with representatives of private medical colleges over the allocation of medical seats under the government quota.

The government had insisted that private medical colleges allot 50 per cent of the seats for the government quota, according to officials.

A senior official said a number of suggestions were put forward during the meeting.

It was decided that another round of discussions would be held next week.

Home Minister E. Valsaraj, who holds the Health portfolio, and senior officials of the Health Department were present. Representatives from all seven private medical colleges took part, the official said.
