This ex-soldier is on a special mission

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: There are any number of people touring the country on a bicycle. However, Prabhjit Singh, an ex-soldier , is an inspiration: he does it without his left arm and a foot, both were lost in an accident, with the appropriate message: “Nothing is Impossible”.

Mr. Singh is on a nationwide tour to spread the message of brotherhood and inspire people to overcome difficult circumstances through sheer willpower.

In town now, the Army at the Madras Engineering Group & Centre felicitated the ex-soldier. Brigadier R.N. Mittal, Commandant MEG & Centre, commended him for his adventurous spirit, courage and inspiring message.

A resident of Ambala in Haryana, Mr. Singh joined the Indian Army in 1984 and was commissioned into the J&K Rifles, but could serve only for five years due to a railway accident in which he lost his left arm and foot.

Aged 41, he began this journey on January 19 and has been through 18 States till now.

He plans to go to Tamil Nadu from here. He has covered 9,546 km, cycling for 939 hours over 65 days.

Interacting with presspersons, he said though it had been a hard and arduous journey for him through difficult terrains and weather, he wanted to show that despite being physically challenged one could achieve anything with grit and determination.
