Warring couple don’t want their child
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: In an unusual incident, a warring couple from Nelamangala on Monday approached the court saying that neither of them wanted custody of their daughter.
The couple eloped in 2000 but the marriage broke down and they obtained a divorce from the Family Court in 2004. By then, the couple had a daughter.
On Monday, the couple stunned Justice K.L. Manjunath when they told him they did not want the custody of their child. The judge tried to counsel them in vain. The couple’s relatives too were not keen to take over the responsibility of the child.
Justice Manjunath observed that he usually saw parents fight it out in court for child custody but here was an exception.
He then ordered each of the parents to deposit Rs. 10 lakh each in the child’s name and adjourned further hearing of the case.
