Water for kharif to be released on July 1

Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah will release water for crop to be raised in 6.79 lakh acres in Krishna district and 58,000 acres in West Godavari district, as part of the Kharif plan, from Prakasam Barrage on Wednesday.

Superintending Engineer S. Sankara Rao said that 3,000 cusecs of water released from Nagarjunasagar reservoir on Saturday was expected to reach the barrage on Tuesday morning. District Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy and MLAs will participate in the programme.
