Validity issue

In my mobile phone (BSNL), there was Rs.92 balance which was valid till 14-6-09. When a top-up for Rs.50 was done on 17-6-09, though Rs.50 was added and a total of Rs.192 was shown in the display the validity date did not change. So, I lost Rs.50. I want to propose the following to the BSNL authorities to modify the program such that the new top-up need not be added to the invalid date but it can be added as easy recharge subtracting the service charge to a valid date or if there is any technical difficulty, the top-up request in such a situation be rejected.

Roadside market

The functioning of the new Woraiyur Market needs proper introspection. Traders are allowed to sell fruits and vegetables on Walajah Road. Various eateries have also mushroomed outside the market. This is obstructing free movement of vehicles. When there is sufficient space inside the market, additional sheds can be constructed to accommodate these traders. Otherwise, the chaos and confusion will continue to prevail.

Move bus stop

The bus stop opposite the office of the IG of Police at the TVS Tollgate should be shifted. The roundabout opposite the IG’s office is the busiest in the city and the parking of the buses at the curve leads to traffic congestion. The policemen posted at this point never care to direct the bus crew to stop at the long stretch of the road towards airport. I urge the city traffic police to force the crew to park the buses away from the sharp curve.

Coaching centre

It is very sad that there are no coaching centres in Tiruchi city for GATE. Coaching centres here give coaching only for CAT, GRE etc. .

Level the mound

A pit excavated for some repairs at southern part of Gandhi Road between Thruvanaikoil Srinivasanagar fifth street and railway line below over bridge, has been left unattended. The mound of stones and soil causes injuries to passers by, especially children, when the spot is already short of light at night. It has to be levelled properly by the concerned.

Desilt in time

State Government sanctions Rs.10 crore for desilting irrigation channels. Similar proclamations appear every year on the eve of SouthWest Monsoon. It is not understood as to why desilting work cannot be completed before May 31 every year.

Unreserved passengers

I travelled along with my sick daughter-in-law from Hosur to Tiruchi by Mysore–Mayiladuturai Express on June 13 in a reserved compartment. At Hosur, we had to run from pillar to post to identify the coach as there was neither any announcement or display. Finally when we got into the coach, it was already full with reserved and unreserved passengers. The presence of the general class passengers in the reserved compartment was due to the fault of the railway authorities to mention the board ‘reserved’ on the compartment. Nobody was able to sleep throughout the night. What is the purpose of booking tickets in advance?

Welcome move

The Southern Railway recently announced its proposal to provide on an experimental basis, biodegradable bed-rolls and pillows to upper-class passengers of the Pandian Express. Depending upon the feedback, the facility will be extended to passengers of other trains gradually. This environment conscious and passenger-friendly move is welcome.

Women’s coach

I travelled from Tiruchi to Thanjavur by train No. 780 Tiruchi–Nagore passenger on June 27. The train was overcrowded. I managed to get into women’s compartment next to the guard’s coach, which too was crowded. Women’s compartment was a small one with only two bays. I had to travel standing till I reached Thanjavur. I request the Railways to attach an unreserved full compartment for women in all the trains.

Shaja,

Thanjavur
