Horse owners threaten legal action

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Karnataka Racehorse Owners’ Association on Monday urged the State Government to allow racing activities at Bangalore Turf Club premises on Race Course Road in the city till an alternative place is identified and necessary infrastructure is put in place at the new location.

In a press release, association honorary secretary Arvind Raghavan said thousands of families would lose their livelihood if the racing activities are closed by December 31, 2009 as directed by the Government, before facilities at the alternative place are ready.

The association made it clear that it would have no other alternative but to approach the courts if the Government does not allow reasonable time to shift the racing facilities to an alternative location.
