Number of confirmed cases in city rises to 15 Child, another person admitted to private hospital Bangalore: A four-year-old girl, who returned from Toronto along with her parents on June 28, has reportedly tested positive for the H1N1 virus taking the total number of confirmed cases to 15 in the city. The child and the 62-year-old person, who had tested positive on Sunday, are admitted at the Lakeside Hospital as the family members wanted them to be treated in a private hospital. Two other confirmed patients, including the son of the Medical Education Secretary had opted for private hospitals recently. Meanwhile, 15 more persons were screened at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) on Monday. These include a child, who was referred directly from the Benguluru International Airport, four others who turned up voluntarily and 10 close contacts of the positive cases. Hosptial Director Shashidhar Buggi said all the 15 samples along with repeat samples of three old cases admitted in the hospital have been sent for tests to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune. “We have also started prophylactic treatment for the close contacts of the confirmed cases and have advised them to restrict their movements,” Dr. Buggi added.
