Bogus cards in A.P.: all-party meet sought

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: A round-table of various political parties held here on Monday adopted a resolution seeking an all-party meeting on weeding out bogus cards so that not a single deserving person was deprived of white ration card.

Representatives of various political parties said the Andhra Pradesh government had liberally issued lakhs of ration cards before the elections and, now that the polls were over, it was seeking to cancel 45 lakh cards terming them “bogus.” CPI State secretary Narayana demanded that political responsibility of MLAs, in-charge Ministers behind the indiscriminate sanction of cards be fixed and they, as well as revenue officers, be made accountable.
