Kakinada: Students of JNTU-Kakinada can henceforth obtain provisional certificates (PCs) within 24 hours of applying for them at Tatkal Seva Centre inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Allam Appa Rao on Monday. Those in urgent need of PCs have to pay Rs 3,000 in the form of demand drafts. Speaking to mediapersons on the occasion, Prof. Rao said students who need the PCs for pursuing higher studies abroad and for other purposes can avail of the facility. Applications have to be accompanied by relevant certificates and submitted in the JNTU-K head office at Kakinada with endorsement of the principals concerned. The Tatkal Seva Centre would initially confine itself to issuing PCs and render other services later at reasonable costs (some universities are charging Rs 5,000 and taking not less than a week to issue the PCs). Compared with this, JNTU-K was poised to issue PCs in the least possible time after due verification of the certificates by its limited staff. Registrar V Ravindra, Director of Evaluation K Satya Prasad, JNTU Engineering College (Kakinada) principal E.V. Prasad and others were present.
