Corporation Bank officers threaten strike

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Corporation Bank Officers’ organisation has threatened to go on an all-India one-day strike in protest against the alleged violation of the transfer policy of the bank by its management.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the organisation chairman T.R. Bhat said bank officers had already launched an agitation in the form of demonstrations, work-to-rule and non-co-operation. “If these forms of protest do not yield the desired result, we will go on a one-day token strike all over India in the last week of July,” he said. He said the management had violated a long-standing transfer policy, which had been signed by the organisation as well as the bank management. “When the organisation protested against favouritism shown, the management transferred officers who had participated in legitimate trade union activities,” he said.
