Mounika and Revappa challenge odds


Mounika secured 902 marks in Intermediate

Revappa secured 544 marks in

Class X exams

SANGAREDDY: Siblings inherit many things from one another but the daughter and son of Rachayya, a cook, and Basamma, got two similar characteristics. Both cannot walk, however, they have the strength to challenge their fates.

Meet Mounika and Revappa. Mounika was born physically-challenged while Revappa lost control over his legs when he was just eight-month-old.

The family migrated to Sangareddy one-and-half decade ago and since then they are staying here in a single room house.

In spite of the suffering, the duo was determination to achieve their goal of becoming good students.

Mounika secured 902 marks in Intermediate and is now ready to join a degree college.

She secured 525 marks in class 10 two years ago. Now, her brother Revappa has outshined her.

He secured 544 marks in class 10 exams and is seeking admission in polytechnic.

The family, which came to the Collectorate on Monday, has sought the help of Joint Collector Ram Sankar Naik for getting admission for Mounika and Revappa into colleges for higher education.

Mr. Ram Sankar Naik asked them to meet the principal of Ranzole Polytechnic for the admission of Revappa. Mounika was promised admission in a private college. Meanwhile, for the sake of children their parents are prepared to stay at different places.

“My mother will stay with me if I join Polytechnic at Ranzole while my father will stay with my sister,” Revappa told The Hindu.
