Kakinada: The State Government has issued certain new guidelines for expanding the scope of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme to spur growth of the rural economy. Similarly, it is taking special care of requirements of the farm sector by taking various measures including giving input subsidy to all those farmers holding less than five acres of land. The Collectors and other officials concerned were instructed to implement these and other development / welfare programs sincerely without any chance to commit irregularities, said East Godavari Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi. Addressing a meeting of the district officials on his return from the Collectors’ conference held at Hyderabad, Mr. Dwivedi said an additional sum of Rs 20,000 was sought to be given to each SC/ST beneficiary of housing schemes to facilitate faster completion of the targeted units. He ordered the District Medical and Health Officer Vijay Kumar to make arrangements for conducting a Arogyasri health camp at Rampachodavaram on July 5, which would be visited by the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. At least 5,000 tribal men and women have to be brought to the camp. Mr. Dwivedi has further ordered the SC, ST, BC and minority welfare departments to organize camps along with banks for identification of beneficiaries. The government wanted the fair price shop dealer vacancies to be filled by members of self-help groups. Steps have to be taken in this direction. A field survey has to be conducted from August 1 to October 15 to weed out bogus ration cards to which the government accorded priority. The government hospitals in Kakinada, Rajahmundry and Ramachandrapuram have been given monthly targets under the Arogyasri scheme. Their performance would therefore be reviewed every week. Joint Collector K Sasidhar, DRO M Mohan Raju, trainee Collector Vivek Yadav and others participated.
