Sarpanches panel by next week

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: A full-fledged district-level committee of sarpanches would be finalised in the next one week, said Thallapudi Krishna, president of district sarpanches sangam, affiliated to the Congress.

It may be recalled that a split in the sangam on the basis of political parties was formalised in the presence of former Panchayat Raj Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy in 2007.

He said after the split ad-hoc committees in 80 per cent of the panchayats were appointed.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Mr. Krishna said that the demands of the sangam were taking shape and a plan was being drawn to implement them effectively.
