Bangalore
Bangalore: This is no ordinary film on the environment. “Home”, a visually breathtaking documentary that offers a new perspective on our environment, is a “carbon offset film”. That is: all emissions produced by the film have been offset and the funds used to finance a biogas reservoir project in Hassan district. Thanks to popular demand, Scientific Service of the French Embassy and Alliance Francaise de Bangalore have organised a special screening of the new documentary by acclaimed French director Yann Arthus Bertrand on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Alliance Francaise. “Home” is known best for the spectacular aerial views of the Earth — its natural beauty and its human settlements. But it is an emotional journey across the world offering insights into the challenges faced by us today. While the film highlights the extent of damage caused by human beings, it is a film filled with hope. The global premiere of Home on World Environment Day was a worldwide event as it was released simultaneously in 181 countries. Director Yann Arthus Bertrand is a photographer and UN Environment Programme Goodwill Ambassador. He is best known for his striking “Earth from Above” series of photographs which were exhibited around the world and featured in National Geographic Magazine.
