KOCHI: Die-hard fans of Michael Jackson in the city, shocked by the demise of their icon, are thronging music shops in search of his albums. Unprepared for such a sudden spurt in demand, the shops are finding it tough to meet the demand. “We are almost out of stock and are left with only a single piece of the MJ’s collection of songs,” said Sreeprasad, an executive at the International Music Division of Music World at M.G. Road. He said that ever since the singer’s death, there had been an unending stream of music fans seeking his greatest hits. Sine there was no great demand for MJ albums during the months immediately preceding his death, music shops were mostly without adequate stock. But now, with the demand far exceeding the stock, music shops have already taken steps to fill their stands with MJ albums. Ansar M.M., the supervisor at a Planet M shop, said the greatest demand was for the singer’s live concerts. Not surprising, since his dance, including his breathtaking moonwalk, was as popular among his fans as his high-pitched singing style. “There is great demand for the album “King of Pop,” a collection of his hits. Among the single albums, ‘Thriller’ is the most sought after one,” said Sreeprasad.
