HYDERABAD: Minister for Higher Education D. Sridhar Babu on Sunday urged poor Brahmin children to be proactive and gain access to education by availing themselves of the fee reimbursement scheme introduced by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He was addressing an impressive gathering at a meeting convened by ‘Brahmana Rajakiya Chaitanya Vedika’ (Brahmins Political Awareness Forum) to felicitate the three members from the community who emerged victorious at the hustings recently, apart from Rajahmundry MP Vundavalli Arunkumar. Mr. Sridhar Babu said that under the leadership of Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy, the State was keen on leaving no stone unturned in ensuring access to quality education for all sections of society. The implementation of the fee reimbursement scheme in AP would be a model for other States to replicate, he said. Mr. Arunkumar said that Brahmins never considered politics as an attractive proposition. He expressed happiness that the situation was changing and said it was a good sign that more and more Brahmins were opting to enter politics. He asked people to draw inspiration from the ‘Lion of Andhra’, former Chief Minister Tangutiru Prakasam Panthulu. The Minister apart, the two others who were elected to the Assembly and were felicitated were Malladi Vishnu and Dronamraju Srinivas.
