Raja Rangaiah’s statue unveiled

Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: Nostalgia hung in the air, as the dignitaries and senior citizens fondly remembered the great services rendered by the stalwarts to the cause of education and to the institutions engaged in strengthening it. In this connection, the historic legacy of the SRR and CVR Government College, here, was praised for its deep roots and uninterrupted continuity.

To live up to the traditional image of the college, the college staff came forward and helped in the installation of a statue of Raja Rangaiah Appa Rao as a permanent token of the fond remembrance of his unforgettable contribution to the origin and growth of their college. A function was held on the college premises to mark the unveiling of the statue of Raja Rangaiah on Sunday, when Rajya Sabha member K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao was to be the chief guest. But he could not come because of a little change in his programme and due to his preoccupation with some pressing, official work. Higher Education Minister D. Sridhar Babu, MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, former MLA Devineni Rajasekhar, Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu and college principal Jaganmohana Rao were present.
