Water to Tamil Nadu only if it rains: Yeddyurappa

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday said Karnataka would be able to release the Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu only if the State received adequate rainfall.

“We will be able to release water to Tamil Nadu only if it rains [in Karnataka],” Mr Yeddyurappa said when reporters asked him whether water would be released to Tamil Nadu as per the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal award.

Mr. Yeddyurappa made the remarks at the Circuit House in Ramanagaram on the outskirts of Bangalore, where he called on BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani.

Mr. Advani stopped at Ramanagaram en route to the Bangalore International Airport for lunch after winding up a five-day sojourn in a holiday resort in the picturesque surroundings of Kodagu.
