HYDERABAD: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday detected a racket in adulteration of milk at the Military Dairy Farm in Bowenpally after collecting sachets of powder used for the purpose of adulteration near the farm. Three civilians, who were loitering nearby, were also taken into custody. A 25-member team of the premier investigating agency conducted extensive searches overnight at the farm and detected that a part of the milk was sold to civilians unauthorisedly and supplying adulterated milk to soldiers. The clandestine deal fetched them Rs.50,000 everyday. Sources in the CBI said the cattle in the farm yielded 2,000 litres of milk everyday but another 3,000 litres was purchased from Vijaya dairy at Tarnaka to meet the demand from soldiers’ families at different military residential quarters’ in the city.
