Sweeper wields the scalpel in Madhya Pradesh

Sagar (M.P.) : A sweeper in a government hospital here performed a minor operation on a three-year-old boy “successfully” on Saturday.

R.C. Mishra, a doctor in the hospital said here that one Sanjeevan Mishra, a resident of Gulab Colony, brought his three-year-old son Arpit to him for treatment.

Clot on child’s neck

The doctor suggested a minor surgery on the boy’s neck to remove a clot.

Dr. Mishra asked the hospital sweeper Ramcharan to take the boy to the operation theatre.

The sweeper took the boy to the operation theatre, where without waiting for Dr. Mishra, he performed the surgery, he said. The boy was discharged from the hospital.

Mr. Ramcharan, claimed he was asked by the doctor to perform the surgery. — PTI
