Fire at Taj basement doused

MUMBAI: A fire broke out in the basement of the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel here on Saturday. No casualties or injuries were reported.

Ajay Mishra, senior vice-president of Sales and Marketing, said the fire started in the staff locker room between 12.15 p.m. and 12.30 p.m., damaging the basement.

Deputy Fire Chief U.K. Tatkare told the media that a cable shaft had caught fire and it took the fire-fighters about 30 minutes to douse it.
