Home Minister expected to launch NSG hub

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram is expected to launch the National Security Guards (NSG) hub in Chennai on July 1, police sources said.

According to Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) K. Radhakrishnan, two companies of the NSG had arrived in Chennai and were stationed at the Police Training College in Ashok Nagar. They would later move to a new campus at Unamancheri near Vandalur where the State government had allotted a site.

Director General of Police K.P. Jain said that the NSG would maintain close liaison with the Tamil Nadu Police. “We are looking forward to working with them. It is likely that the Tamil Nadu Commando Force will have joint exercises with the NSG.”
