ECIL fire toll rises to two

HYDERABAD: The toll in the ECIL fire accident rose to two with the Deputy General Manager (DGM) V. Laxmipati succumbing to burns at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad on Saturday afternoon.

Fifty-two-year-old Laxmipati, a resident of Kakatiyanagar in Neredmet, was among the seven employees admitted to this hospital. The condition of Ravi Kumar and Mohan Kumar, who suffered 90 per cent burns, continued to be critical, while others are recuperating. Ten employees were injured after fire broke out in the thermal battery making unit on June 19. Fifty-five-year-old B. Sri Devi, a resident of Kamalanagar, died while undergoing treatment at the same hospital the next day.
