BCCI’s gesture

Mumbai: Following a Working Committee decision and as a goodwill gesture the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently disbursed a sum of Rs. 15 lakh each to former India captains Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and Ajit Wadekar and Test cricketers Farokh Engineer and Abid Ali.

“These four were nominated as beneficiaries for the Cricketers Benefit Fund Series (CBFS) for 2000 and 2001. The last two CBFS series was not held in Sharjah and hence the BCCI decided to compensate them,” said a BCCI official. — Special Correspondent
