“Political parties always stood by Chief Minister in the past”

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: PMK leader S.Ramadoss on Saturday said he would not agree with Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi’s argument that there was no consensus among the political parties on the Sri Lankan issue, saying that political parties had always stood by him in the past.

Addressing a rally took out by the women’s wing of the party in support of the Sri Lankan Tamils, Dr.Ramadoss recalled various agitations organised by the film world and various sections of the society demanding ceasefire in Sri Lanka.

“We were united and listened to you. But we were not able to stop the war,” he said reacting to Chief Minister’s call for unity among the political parties.

Calling upon the State Government to take steps to rehabilitate the Tamils displaced by the war, Dr.Ramadoss said that the PMK would not remain silent till Tamils were given their rights. “There is no point in shedding tears. We are ready for any sacrifice,” he said.

CPI leader C.Mahendran said if the Sri Lankan Tamils were denied rights, Tamils across the world would resort to a struggle, unprecedented in the history.

Director Seeman said that the Indian Government and Tamil Nadu should take the blame for the killing of the Tamils.
