Return of farmers from China delayed
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The return of five Karnataka farmers from China has been delayed because of bad weather in Shanghai. The farmers were expected to land in Bangalore early on Sunday.
Joint Director of Agriculture M. Raju told presspersons here on Saturday that the five farmers were quarantined in China on suspicion of having contracted the H1N1 virus. The farmers were supposed to land in Bangalore from China on Saturday. In all, 105 farmers had been sent to China for a study tour. Of them, 100 have returned to Bangalore. Mr. Raju said all the 100 farmers had tested negative for H1NI virus when their samples were tested on arrival in Bangalore.
