Ripon Building renovation

CHENNAI: The 96-year-old Ripon Building will be renovated under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin informed the Assembly.

The Centre has sanctioned Rs.6.1 crore. The Corporation had proposed to the Centre the renovation project to conserve the original glory of the building, which was named after Lord Ripon, Viceroy of India (1880-84).

Mr. Stalin was providing details of the project, while initiating a debate on the demand for grants to the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department.
