Swine flu: seven more screened

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Seven more persons with suspected swine flu symptoms were screened at two city hospitals on Friday. While three of them reported voluntarily at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD), four persons were referred to the new quarantine facility in Victoria Hospital from the Bengaluru International Airport and have been admitted there.

Throat and nasal swabs of all these persons have been drawn and sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for tests.

Four of the five samples that were sent for tests on Thursday from the RGICD tested negative and the results of one sample were awaited. One more person, who had been admitted after he tested positive for the H1N1 virus at the RGICD, was discharged on Friday as he is asymptomatic now, doctors said.
