Staff Reporter

BDA promises to complete the work in 18 months

Bangalore: To provide signal-free connectivity from Central Silk Board to Hebbal Flyover junction, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will construct six grade separators, covering a 31-km stretch of eight junctions along the Outer Ring Road.

Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa laid the foundation stone for these facilities at the Devarabeesanahalli junction on Friday.

The Chief Minister said the State Government was committed to providing world-class infrastructure and basic amenities in the city to make life easier for the people.

“We will soon chalk out a comprehensive development plan for the city in coordination with all the civic service providers. Our focus is on ensuring that citizens are not put to hardship. This signal-free connectivity between Central Silk Board and Hebbal flyover will connect northern parts of the city to the international airport,” he said.

To be constructed at a cost of Rs. 240.03 crore, the six grade separators will come up at HSR Layout 14th Main, Bellandur Junction, Devarabeesanahalli, Kalyannagar, Hennur and Veerannapalya.

“Although such major projects cannot be completed even in four decades, we promise to complete them in 18 months,” the Chief Minister said.

BDA Commissioner Siddaiah explained that the grade separator at HSR 14th Main junction would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 34.56 crore. It would be a bi-directional, 270-metre-long facility with a width of 20 metres.

While the facilities at Bellandur and Devarabeesanahalli would be taken up at cost of Rs. 39.96 crore and Rs. 39.8 crore respectively, those in Kalyannagar, Hennur and Veerannapalya would cost the BDA Rs. 33.93 crore, Rs. 54.76 crore and Rs. 37.02 crore respectively.

The BDA would ensure that all these projects were completed in 18 months, he said.

Higher Education Minister Aravind Limbavali, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Shobha Karandlaje and Urban Development Minister S. Suresh Kumar, BJP MLAs and party MPs P.C. Mohan and D.B. Chandre Gowda were present.
