GOLDEN RUN: St. Joseph’s Matriculation School in the city. Coimbatore: The St. Joseph’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School and its alumni association will celebrate the school’s Golden Jubilee from June 30 this year. All former students, since the school was opened in 1960, are being invited to become a part of the association and participate in the jubilee celebrations, according to a release from the school. Those interested can contact phone no: 9894233235, 9843214595. The release said the school was started in 1960 with 264 students. The first batch of 16 students wrote the matriculation examination in 1963. Since then, about 5,500 students had passed out of this institution. The alumni were successful in all fields, the release said. The alumni association was formed recently and it wanted the former students to share their knowledge and experience with the current students. The release said that the first project of the association was to provide a free line to support the education of needy children in the school and in select slums. A project to promote women’s empowerment would also be implemented.
