LPG cylinders seized

Staff Reporter

Coimbatore: The officials of Bharatgas along with the Race Course Police personnel raided a car shed in Race Course and seized LPG cylinders stored there in unsafe condition.

Bharatgas officials said that an anonymous call was received on June 25 about unauthorised storage of LPG cylinders in large numbers in a car shed opposite a lodge.

The raid led to detection and seizure of 49 cylinders, of which 29 were Bharatgas cylinders, each weighing 19 kg and the rest were private gas cylinders.

There was also an omni van with an LPG fuel tank, which was unapproved and highly hazardous.

Storage of LPG cylinders without proper approval from Explosives Department is a violation. Though the cylinders are safe, it involves major risk if they are not handled properly.

The police seized the cylinders, the vehicle and sealed the godown. A case has been registered.
