RTC to introduce new routes

Staff Reporter

Hyderabad: Conceding to the demand for more buses connecting the city fringes with main hubs, the APSRTC is planning to introduce new bus routes connecting areas like Medchal, Kondapur and Kothaguda shortly.

The RTC city zone has already placed order for 1,000 high-end luxury buses and is expecting them to hit the roads by the end of July in phased manner.

Presently, 2,900-odd buses are operated on 950 routes in the city and suburbs. A survey is on to ascertain the demand for augmenting buses on existing routes and introduction of new routes.

Once the new buses that include 800 semi-low floor, 50 low floor air-conditioned and 150 semi-low floor non-AC are made available, a major chunk of them will be allotted for connecting city fringes, informed RTC city zone Executive Director P.V. D. Jayasankara Prasad.
