48 per cent rainfall deficit

HYDERABAD: In spite of the early arrival of South West monsoon, nearly a month ago, the State has suffered an overall rainfall deficit of 48 per cent so far. As a whole, the State received only 48 mm rainfall till June 25 as against a normal of 91.8 mm.

Presenting a status the seasonal conditions at the two-day Collectors’ conference at Jubilee Hall here on Friday, Disaster Management Commissioner Dinesh Kumar said as compared to the normal rainfall of 88.9 mm, Coastal Andhra received 40.2 mm. The deficit in Telangana region was 53 per cent, with rainfall received so far being 49.2 mm (normal 105.1 mm). Rayalaseema recorded 60.3 mm against the normal of 64.6 mm.

Meanwhile, the South-West monsoon covered the entire State on Friday by advancing into the rest of the North Coastal Andhra and Telangana regions.
