THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac said in the Assembly on Thursday that disunity and controversies surrounding the government and the ruling parties had prevented people from noticing the good work of the government. Replying to the Demand for Grants for Agriculture Income Tax and Sales Tax, the Minister said the government would correct its deficiencies and win the support of the people. Dr. Isaac said that tax revenues had shown an average increase of 18 per cent during the last three years. The State’s debt as a percentage of total revenues had dropped during the last three years. The current interest costs did not exceed the growth rate. He announced that the administrative sanction for infrastructure projects costing Rs.3,000 crore would be given before the end of the current session of the House. Later, the House passed the demand for grants amounting to Rs.72.59 crore.
