HYDERABAD: A court here on Friday suspended the expulsion slapped on seven rebels by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) for targeting party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the wake of the party’s poor performance in elections. As a sequel to the court’s interim orders, the rebels demanded that they be taken back into the party but the TRS leadership refused to concede the same and insisted that it would contest the judgement since the expelled leaders had misled the court. The TRS president decided to appeal against the order in consultation with his colleagues after the rebels once again lashed out at him at a press conference after the judgement was delivered. The rebels released a strongly worded statement and again criticised Mr. Rao bitterly at the press meet. Conveying Mr. Rao’s decision at a separate news conference, the TRS spokesman G. Jagdish Reddy said the party would have reconsidered expulsion against rebels if they were apologetic and restrained from using harsh language against the president. However, they continued to damage the party even now. Mr. Reddy said the party would argue in the court to lift the suspension because the rebels misrepresented to it claiming seven of them were expelled. Earlier, the rebels who got relief from court – A. Chandrasekhar, D. Ravindra Naik, H.A. Rehman, Yannam Srinivas Reddy, Jitta Balakrishna Reddy and R. Uma Devi – expressed confidence that they would make Mr. Rao mend his ways.
