Bangalore: ITI Ltd. has established a “Next Generation Data Centre” of international standards at Doorvaninagar in the city to provide customer-centric services to the Government as well as private sector. The data centre will have an edge over other data centres not only through its complete range of services but also in terms of its infrastructure, effective and eco-friendly fire suppression facilities, high level of security, carrier neutrality, availability of power, precision controlled environment and 24 x 7 support services, said a press release. This data centre is being set up in collaboration with Trimax Data Centre Services Ltd. (Trimax), Mumbai. With this, ITI, which has been dubbed as a loss-making public sector undertaking, has taken a first step towards expansion of its activities to generate revenue on a sustainable basis. “The centre will play a big role in providing comprehensive service portfolio on turnkey basis to users,” said S.K. Chatterjee, Chairman and Managing Director, ITI Ltd. This public-private partnership model is the first of its kind in the data centre business and Bangalore had been chosen to house the data centre as the city had proximity to India’s IT sector. Siddartha Behura, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, will inaugurate the data centre on June 30, Mr. Chatterjee said.
