Farm workers’ welfare fund: bill planned

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government proposes to bring forward a legislation that would help strengthen the Kerala Agricultural Workers’ Welfare Fund Board, Labour Minister P.K. Gurudasan told the Assembly on Friday.

Responding to a calling attention motion moved by N. Rajan (CPI), the Minister said the proposed bill would have provisions to ensure mobilisation of more resources for the fund. At present, the government was getting only Rs.7.5 crore annually as contribution to the Fund. By effecting the amendment, it would be possible to enhance the revenue substantially, he explained.
