BANGALORE: The Karnataka Cabinet, which met here on Thursday, has approved the Rs. 7,500 crore investment agreement signed between Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL) and the Government for laying gas pipelines between Dabhol and Bangalore, and Kochi-Kanjirkkod-Mangalore -Bangalore. The project would be implemented in two phases. GAIL’s Board of Directors has accorded approval for the investment at a recent meeting in Delhi. Addressing the press after a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Thursday, Minister for Home V.S. Acharya said GAIL would execute the project in which the Department of Urban Infrastructure Development will play the role of a facilitator.
