House burgled

CHENNAI: Gold jewellery and cash were stolen from a house in Mudichur near Tambaram on Thursday.

The burglary came to light when the residents returned home in the evening. Raghunathan and his wife Meenakshi were unable to open the front door as it was bolted from inside. They found the rear door found broken. The almirah was rummaged and jewellery weighing about 30 sovereigns and Rs.20,000 were missing.

Robbed

A jewellery supplier was robbed of his bag containing silver jewellery weighing 15 kg in Pammal on Thursday.

The Pallavaram police said Kiran Lal parked his scooter outside a private financier’s office. After spending about 30 minutes at the office, he returned only to notice a bag containing the jewellery missing.
