25 Sri Lankan fishermen rounded up

CHENNAI: The Coast Guard on Thursday rounded up 25 Sri Lankan fishermen who trespassed into Indian waters. The five boats used by them and an estimated 2,900 kg of catch were confiscated during the operations 35 nautical miles northeast of Krishnapattinam.

The Coast Guard stated in a press note that the boats were being towed to Chennai. They would be handed over, along with the crew, to the Kasimedu harbour police station. — Special Correspondent
