DAVANGERE: Deputy Commissioner of Davangere district K. Amaranarayana has justified the use of Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) for Vikasa Sankalpa Utsava here on June 16 and maintained that there is a provision in this regard in the guidelines for utilisation of BRGF. MeetingAt a special review meeting on developments projects here on Thursday, leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah asked the Deputy Commissioner how he could utilise BRGF for Vikasa Sankalpa celebrations. Mr. Amaranarayana said that it was a government celebration and according to the guidelines a portion of the amount could be utilised for informing people about welfare schemes. When Mr. Siddaramaiah sought to see the BRGF guidelines, and Mr. Amaranarayana asked officials to bring the book. However, by the time the officials brought the book, the meeting had concluded. AdviceEarlier, Mr. Siddaramaiah called upon officials to implement all schemes and programmes effectively. He said that officials should have a commitment to serve people. Superintendent of Police, Davangere district, Sandeep Patil was among those participated in the meeting.
