Prasar Bharati employees plan dharna

Staff Reporter

Coimbatore: The direct recruit programme officers of All India Radio and Doordarshan have decided to launch a nationwide dharna from July 2.

According to a release, from N. Tamilvanan, Tamil Nadu State coordinator of Association of UPSC Recruited Programme Officer of All India Radio and Doordarshan (AUPO), the employees are deeply anguished over the inordinate delay and failure on the part of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the department in promoting the cadre officers to higher posts as directed by the courts.

While many officers were languishing in their entry level posts for 20-28 years without any promotion, a large number of “illegal appointees” had been given multiple promotions and now occupy senior positions in the organisation, he added.

He also demanded a fast track inquiry into the scam and disciplinary proceedings against those involved.
