There are movies, comedy compilations, tearjerkers and social dramas. And then there are also a host of game shows and competitions, however ridiculous the contest could appear but gift vouchers are handed at the end, and now dance and music shows too have caught the fancy of channel managers. Agreed Udaya Bhanu, Suma, Jhansi and others are popular and shows that they anchor too have considerable following. The second line anchors with too much to giggle for no reason and waving hands that prove nothing too host shows that are touted as the most watched ones. In this crammed schedule of fun and entertainment, these days, health shows have started to gain certain importance and definitely generating interest among viewers. While till recently, the health shows primarily were fixed in afternoon slots and had doctors answering questions from the viewers, some of these showcase naturopathy, ayurveda and other alternate practices and their presence is being felt more and more. These days, Suma too seems to have turned active and is seen on almost all the channels doing a variety of shows. Comfort with the camera and natural flair really helped her carve a distinct niche for herself and the other day she came up with simultaneous portrayal of several different characterisations. And she did excel in each of them. T. LALITH SINGH
