Preventive act: The police take Srinivas, former Congress leader of Metpally, into custody at Karimnagar on Saturday.
KARIMNAGAR: For the second consecutive day on Saturday, Congress workers clashed with one another, though the venue and the players were different this time.
Supporters of former Minister J. Ratnakara Rao threw punches at a follower of ex-legislator A. Komireddy Ramulu after completion of the district party review meeting in Karimnagar town.
After the review meeting with APCC president concluded, Mr. Ratnakara Rao’s supporters noticed Srinivas, a former Congress leader of Metpally town, who joined the BSP and supported Komireddy Ramulu. and pounced on him and hit him with fisticuffs and chairs for betraying the party.
However, police personnel swung into action and thwarted the attack by picking up Srinivas from the venue . The Congress leaders stated that Srinivas had no right to participate in the review meeting. They alleged that Srinivas and his supporters were responsible for the former Minister’s defeat from Korutla Assembly constituency.
