Mitra quits Praja Rajyam

HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam party general secretary P. Mitra resigned from the party on Saturday. He called on the party president K. Chiranjeevi and handed over his resignation. The resignation came on the day when the Election Commission granted the status of a recognised party to the Praja Rajyam. Dr. Mitra’s decision was expected since he distanced himself from the party. It was considered a setback for Mr. Chiranjeevi since both were family friends and also because the party had just then received the communication from the EC.
When several leaders were quitting the party, the PR chief asked Dr. Mitra in the presence of journalists whether he was still in the party.
