Raids against child labour

SANGAREDDY: In a move to bring children employed in different firms and establishments, to the schools, the Department of Education in association with, the labour, police and revenue on Saturday conducted raids in and around Sangareddy town.

Raids were led by Sangareddy RDO Ramachandra Rao. Four children -Jagadeesh, Sunil, Prakash and Ammulu- were rescued in raids conducted at Reddy dhaba, Raja dhaba and Zam Zam dhaba.

Jagadish was working in Reddy dhaba and drawing a daily wage of Rs. 65. His mother Chandramma claims that her repeated appeals to get him admitted in the school were to no avail. She appealed to the officials not to arrest her son. Finally she promised to sent his son to the school and avoided embarassment.

At Raja dhaba, officials rescued Sunil and Prakash, who claimed that they were majors. They were taken into custody and later would be put in school.

At Zam Zam dhaba excise police seized beer bottles being sold at higher prices.
